AOD Contracts were appointed as Main Contractor to carry out a full external redecoration and repair project to this impressive property. A full DOFF pressure clean was carried out to the front elevation to restore the bricks back to their natural colour and to uplift the entire façade .
An area of bricks were tinted carefully by hand using a specialist stonemason, as dirt and grime had become so ingrained that it could not be removed, and this tinting process left them matching with all surrounding areas.
Stone and Stucco and Repair Care surveys were carried out by AOD which highlighted a large amount of repairs being required to ensure that the building would retain its fine details . Once the surveys were agreed with the Contract Administrator and the Board of Directors we could began the extensive process of repairs.
Large areas of stucco were failing and had blown loose which meant that large runs of moulded stucco had to be cut out and reformed. Similarly following the Repair Care survey a number of windows were rotten and needed to be completely overhauled using the Resin Repair Care system.
The existing 68mm cast iron downpipes were removed and replaced with new 110mm cast iron downpipes which meant core drilling through the cornices and flat roof where downpipes were situated to enable the new pipes to be installed.
Finally all previously decorated surfaces were prepared and repainted applying Dulux Weathershield System. The ornate front railings were stripped completely of all paint back to bare metal and then redecorated using the Dulux Metalshield system.
